The current VC Reporter has a great article on two competing downtown Ventura projects. The proposals are for Ventura’s iconic intersection at California and Main, and each would be a huge innovation for the City.
The smaller proposal is for a $19 million mixed use project with 29 residential units priced from $400,000 to $850,000. Ventura would be a better place if it were built.
However, I like the second project. (Disclosure, I consider Harvey Champlin, the developer, a friend.) This is a $55 million, 99 room, hotel and 83 apartments that will change downtown Ventura. The project is innovative in lots of other ways explained in the article. It is well worth reading if you care about Ventura’s future.
Ventura has done a fantastic job of restoring its downtown. This is an opportunity to make another huge improvement. I hope we see it built.
